The following organisations are collaborating with the Climate Witness Programme to highlight climate change impacts in different parts of the world as well as work toward solutions and build resilience.
Project AWARE
Project AWARE partners with CoralWatch, a nonprofit research organisation from the University of Queensland, Australia, to involve divers and snorkelers in monitoring coral bleaching and assessment of coral health. The aim of CoralWatch is to provide a scientific tool for monitoring coral health and increase awareness about climate change by demonstrating its devastating effect on coral reefs around the world.
Eco Everest
Eco Everest 2008 is unique in the way it combines mountaineering with scientific research. The expedition climbed Mount Everest in spring 2008, and in parallel scientific research was conducted on glacial lakes and melting glaciers. The initiative aims at raising awareness on the impact of climate change in the Himalayas.
American Alpine Club
The American Alpine Club (AAC) unites and inspires the climbing community to advance the climbing way of life, with a focus on knowledge, conservation, advocacy and logistical support. AAC has been involved in highlighting the impacts of climate change on mountain environment and recently held an event called
Climbatology where prominent mountaineers presented on the changes they are witnessing and documenting.
Sandwatch & Nevis Historical & Conservation Society
Sandwatch seeks to modify the lifestyle and habits of children, youth and adults on a community-wide basis and to develop awareness of the fragile nature of the marine and coastal environment and the need to use it wisely. Climate Witness has been working closely with the Sandwatch Project in Nevis & St Kitts in the Caribbean (via the Nevis Historical & Conservation Society) to document the climate change impacts in the region.
