Project and travel grants from Across The Waters


Across The Waters is currently managing two types of grants:

  • Small project grants ranging from 3,500 euro to 10,000 euro to finance innovative conservation projects.
  • Travel grants up to 1000 euro to cover travel expenses to attend training courses.
Project grants
Across The Waters grants are mainly used improve organizations’ programmes and networks. Another objective is to develop the capacity of local actors to become local capacity building providers through organizing exchanges, trainings at a grassroots or community level and other activities.

Between 1994 and 2003, 26 projects have been supported in 16 countries

Current grants are available to organizations in North Africa and the Mediterranean part of the Balkans.

To qualify for a project grant, a project should be one of the following three:

  • innovative pilot conservation project at the grassroots or community level.
  • aimed to build or strengthen partnerships between different organizations.
  • connected with the running of regional conservation projects.
Travel grants
These grants cover travel to training courses, and are available to individuals working with NGOs and institutions in the Mediterranean region.

Travel grants can be requested to attend one of the WWF regional training courses, also known as Mediterranean Schools , or any other training course or seminar with a specific Mediterranean focus taking place in the region.
